After about a month and a half of dilligent work and tweaking, the new fadedwords dot com is unveiled! There are still some things we need to fix… comments on the pages with my creative writing, a couple small bugs that we’re working out, but other than that we’re all set. Thanks to Jake for all of his hard work on this; the site looks amazing (as is appartent).
You may notice that there is only one post… which if you had visited the old site you would know that I had hundreds of blog entries. I debated at length about moving the entire content over. In the end, several things made my decision very simple. First and foremost, moving the blog posts was exceptionally difficult. Jake and I looked at length for an easy way to transfer the posts, but WordPress and php fusion are simply not compatible in a way that would allow it. We would have spent weeks moving things over manually… and that just wasn’t something I found exceptionally fun. Second, while I truly value all of my work and writing on the old site it was time to let that part of my life go. I wrote for months on the site and each entry was full of pain, regrets, sorrow and anger. I did not want to carry those thoughts and feelings over to this new and greatly improved site. So I decided to just back it up, store it, and move on to bigger and better things.
Like I said, right now we’re still working on some things. There is no ability to comment on my creative writing, but my email is prominently displayed on all writing pages. The gallery is empty for the time being, and I’ll start moving pictures up as soon as I’m back to New York. Some of my writing has not been put up, due to a bug that makes my front page disappear when I post it.
So… if you click on something and it doesn’t work please email me to let me know. You can also email Jake if you see a problem. There is a link to his website in the sidebar. Unlike the old website, the sidebar is quite long on this site. Scroll down to see what’s there.
So let me know what you think, and enjoy the new digs. I think it’s outstanding and a big step up from the old look.
