Work Woes

Friday at work was fairly wretched. There has been an ongoing situation at the school regarding a student who has Autism in our self-contained classroom. He is severe and profound, and was never properly transitioned to our school. So right now he’s just lost. Every day has been a challenge, and it’s been hard to watch this child struggle to understand why he’s in this strange place full of strange people. We had a meeting on the 5th and it was decided we’d try until the 18th to get him settled.

22

Today marks my father’s 22nd year of sobriety.

22 years…

Do I even have to say anything else to really drive home how amazing that is?

Dad:
I have never been more proud of anyone in my life. Your accomplishment goes beyond words.  Your strength amazes me.  I love you and I am so, so proud of you.

Pregnant Mama

I got this picture today:

Gidget Pregnant.jpeg

This is Gidget, the mommy dog of my soon-to-be born baby puppy. The breeder says that she’s begun to look for a “good” place to have them (i.e.- under the porch, behind the barn!). So, in all likelyhood I will be getting an email next week saying that the pups have been born… complete with pictures of the tiny little ratty pups! There were only four people, including me, that the email today was sent to. One of those was the kennel that the sire came from. So I think it’s very likely that I will have no issue getting my male pup.

Puppies on the way!

Relaxed

It was a relaxed and relaxing weekend. Jake was sick on Friday, so we skipped going to Tim’s. Saturday and Sunday we went out to eat, spent some time at the book store (where J bought me a very interesting writing prompt book), went to the mall and I got my hair cut finally.

Mainly we just enjoyed being together. Sunday we watched football all day. We watched a movie. We laughed. We made plans for the next time he’s down in Plymouth (hopefully next weekend if his boss doesn’t ask him to work).

I’m at a conference in Chapel Hill until Wednesday. So it’s a bit more relaxation until work on Thursday.

In other news, I’m considering doing NaNoWriMo again this year. I participated last year and ended up completing the required 50,000 words. Right now I’m still hemming and hawing about it, but I’m likely going to compete again.

Forward

Some people might consider me “un-American”… and perhaps in some ways I feel that way a little bit. For the last four years I have been just as caught up in the 9/11 rememberance as everyone else has been. This year it’s different for me. In fact, I wasn’t even going to write today. I’ve decided to write though, because I have received so many messages from so many people.
