Meeting the Babies

Today was simply outstanding. I went out and met my breeder, her husband, and all of the dogs. I got to get right into the pen with the puppies and hold them and pet them. I was able to meet Gidget, the Mommy Dog. It was fantastic. Two of the puppies really took a liking to me. One had a blue collar (my Number 1 Fave) and the other had neon yellow collar (my number 2 Fave). The one with the blue collar is a bit bigger, and he actually slept in my lap for about half an hour. Pat and her husband Dick are just absolutely wonderful. They also have a beautiful horse that Dick introduced us to. The encouraged us to come back again soon, and said that we could just call ahead to make sure they’d be home. I felt very welcome and very comfortable with them. I know I made a wonderful decision buying my puppy from them.

Now for some pictures!

There are more at my Photo Gallery (link in the sidebar). Just go to the pets album, then look in the Merlin album. They start on page 2.

Hopefully I will be bringing home the puppy with the blue collar (fave number 1). I don’t have a better picture of me with him, simply because he was either sleeping or playing or kissing nonstop when he was with me. Next trip I hope to get a better one. This was just a wonderful, wonderful afternoon. Seeing pictures of them all this time has been great, but actually holding them and meeting them face to face solidified that I’m really getting this dog.

Communication

I’ve been quite sick the last three days… in fact yesterday I came in to work long enough to make sure the PSATs started smoothly and then I went home and proceeded to sleep until about 2 in the afternoon.

Today I’m feeling physically a bit better, but emotionally I’m completely overwhelmed.

Lack of communication in the district I’m working in is seriously going to be one of the things that drives me absolutely out of my mind.

The Day After…

So today is the day after our 8 month anniversary… and not that I should be surprised, but it was just as wonderful today as it was yesterday.

We were up early and we went to get our laundry done. Once it was started I went and picked us up some breakfast. It was much more fun to do laundry together than alone. *smile* After laundry we came back here, decided to skip showers (**see note at end of entry) and left for Greenville.

We went to the mall, for the express purpose of going to Steve and Barry’s. I had planned on buying Jake an FSU sweatshirt for Christmas, but he currently doesn’t know where any of his sweatshirts are, so I decided I’d get it for him now. I also got a North Carolina State University sweatshirt, because that’s the campus that Jake works on. We walked around for a little while, and then just drove around Greenville to learn what there was to see. There’s a lot to do up there, and we plan to go up for a whole Saturday the next time he’s here.

We stopped at Walmart on the way home and I bought a much needed bookshelf (for those of you with my xmas list- no worries. I still need two!). Jake also bought me a little heating fan (**see note at end of post).

Once back home, he put together my shelf and then we spent a little while just lounging around on the futon. Then it was time for him to go home. Today was a really fun day that ended a very wonderful weekend. The next five days are going to drag by, because there’sso much to look forward to next weekend:

  • North Carolina State Fair.
  • Going to meet the puppies in person!
  • Seeing my handsome, wonderful boyfriend again.

**Note: So I turned on the heater in the house for the first time on Friday. It wasn’t blowing hot air, but like a jackass I didn’t call my landlord until Saturday. He said that it’s likely that my tank needs oil put into it, so I should call the heating company. This means I have to wait ’til Monday to get in touch with them. This isn’t so bad, because it’s supposed to get pretty warm again starting tomorrow. Last night and tonight though, it’s really cold (low 40s). So the heating fan is an amazingly thoughtful, not to mention useful at the current moment. It’ll remain useful after the heater is working too, because I can use it at night rather than leaving the whole house being heated. It’ll save money on the electric bill. Soooooo… yay Jake for being so wonderful.

5 days and counting…

3 Weeks Old

Today is Merlin’s 3-week old birthday. Although I’m not sure which puppy he is yet, my wonderful breeder sent me several more pictures of the pups and he’s in there somewhere! They are looking beautiful.

According to Pat the puppies have been up and walking, are learning quick, and have proven themselves to be skilled escape artists already!

Happy 3-Week Birthday Merlin!!!
