Rain Dance

**Updated with link to the photos!!

We got up early today, so I could introduce Jake to the wonderful world of pumpkin picking. He’d never been before and I found out where there was a farm fairly close by. We went on a hay ride while we were there, yet another thing he’d never done. We ate funnel cake and visited the quaint country store they had. We picked pumpkins. It was a lovely day, and despite his skepticism early on I think we both had a great time. After that we met up with Steve for lunch before stopping to get pumpkin carving tools (Jake has never carved pumpkins either!!). During that stop I found the two Halloween My Little Ponies for this year, which was quite exciting I must say… especially considering one is a ladybug! I got two new books today, one of them the new novel by Alice Sebold. So far it’s just as riveting as her others.

Right now Jake is napping, I’m reading and contemplating uploading the pictures I took today to the website. Although I’m feeling slightly too lazy to do that.

It’s been a good day.

A conversation, upon seeing a sign that encouraged us to ‘pray for rain’ :

Jake: Pray for rain? I think we should have a rain dance.
Me: A rain dance?
Jake: Yes, with the drums and the rainsticks and whatnot.
Me: You’re ridiculous.
Jake: And a loincloth. If all else fails, it’d rain just to get us out of the loincloths.
Me: Do you have a loincloth?
Jake: No, I’d have to fashion one.
Me: Fashion one?? *laughter*
Jake: I’ll have to wear boxers underneath though. I can’t free-ball it when I wear a loincloth.

Truth

A conversation, during the opening monologue of ‘Transformers’:

Courtney: Is this a true story?
Me: Yeah, of course.

NC State Fair

Last year Jake and I attempted to go to the NC State Fair. We foolishly tried to go on a weekend… Saturday in fact. It was absolutely insane that day. There were so many people that we couldn’t move around. We stayed all of 25 minutes before giving up, vowing to come back “next year” on a week day to see if it was better.

Today we kept that promise. I took part of the day off for a doctor’s appointment (yay thyroid health), so we decided to both take the whole day in order to spend part of it at the fair. It was a great decision. It wasn’t over-crowded. We got our caricature done (something I really wanted to do last year). We ate all the bad-for-you food you’re expected to eat at the fair. We took tons of pictures… which you can see HERE. It was an incredibly enjoyable day.

Tomato Soup

Conversation tonight:

Me: This is why we’re destined to be together. We both hate tomato soup.
Jake: Mmhmm
Me: … Well there’re other reasons. But the tomato soup clinches it.
