JDRF Walk (follow up)

I had a wonderful morning.  It started out with a surprising weigh in; I lost 1 pound and I totally did not think I would.  Then I headed off to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk.  I wrote about this several weeks ago, asking for anyone who might want to help me reach my fund raising goal.

I am really proud to say that I not only reached my goal, but I surpassed it.  I raised $150, all of which will go toward finding a cure for this insidious disease.  I’m also really proud, because this time last year there is no way I would have been able to do this walk.  My back was an absolute mess, and I couldn’t have made it the 2.5 miles.  Now that I’ve lost nearly 30 pounds (holy crap!), my back is so much better.  This wouldn’t have been possible before all the weight I’ve lost.

The rest of my day is going to be spent making special Halloween cupcakes for the costume party I’m going to tonight.  I’m doing werewolves and full moon cupcakes.  We’ll see how I do on them… keep fingers crossed that the werewolves come out looking right.  I’ll post pictures of that later, along with my costume.

Here’s a photo from the walk today:

Thank you so very much to everyone who donated so generously to make my fundraising goal a reality.  I’m so thankful for wonderful friends and family.
