Things I Couldn’t Share Earlier

I couldn’t post about these earlier, as they were gifts for people who read the blog.  I made both Jake and my Mom scrapbooks for Christmas.  My Mom’s was a large album full of all the baby pictures I have of me.  She didn’t have these photos, and I wanted to be sure she did.  You can find the pictures of this album here.

For Jake I did an album of his motorcycle trip that he took with his friend Brian in October.  It’s just the photos he took, as Brian hasn’t posted his pictures yet.  :-p (hint hint hint).  I’ll add them as soon as he has posted them.  You can find pictures of what I’ve done here.

They both seemed to really like their albums, which makes the months of work absolutely worth it.  I was most worried about Jake liking his, as a scrapbook isn’t typically something I’d make for a grown man.  *shrug* He said that he liked it a lot though, so that made me happy.

Tonight we are going to my friend Bre’s house for a New Year’s celebration.  It should be pretty laid back and fun.  Happy New Year everyone.

Home Sweet Home

The highlights of our trip back to North Carolina:

  • The blizzard-like conditions that we hit about an hour into the trip, complete with terrifyingly slippery roads.
  • The 2 and a half hour delay in Virginia due to bumper to bumper traffic.  Seriously, how do people live in VA?
  • Realizing, while we were in traffic that today is the 30th, not the 29th.
  • This was a big deal because we were supposed to leave the 29th, and we were supposed to pick Merlin up from the dog boarder today.  *sigh*  I don’t know what happened to my brain or the days, but I really thought that today was the 29th.
  • Frantic phone call to the boarder and my neighbor.
  • Neighbor generously picked the dog up and brought him home, leaving him in the back yard.
  • The absolute meltdown Merlin had when we got home.
  • Bed

More later.

Holiday Hubub

It has been an incredibly busy, albeit fantastic, few days.  I’m sure all of you reading understand how crazy the holidays can be.  We opened gifts at my parents’ house on Christmas Eve after a party at my cousin’s house, which was a big change in how we usually do things.  Dad had to work Christmas day until 3pm, so we had to make some adjustments.

On Christmas Day we spent the morning relaxing and delivering gifts to family.  Then we went to my Aunt’s house to open up the presents there.  We had a great deal of fun opening, and then had a huge dinner of spaghetti.  MMMMM.

Friday Jake and I decided to take a trip to Winooski, Vermont to see his Mom Patricia and her significant other Fred.  It was a great visit.  We went out for a fantastic lunch, had plenty of time to chat after, and then headed down to Lake Champlain to see it at winter.

You can see all of the pictures here and here of the trip so far.  It’s been a really wonderful time.  We have several more things planned to do, including going to lunch with my good friend Jordan, going to my Aunt’s house to retrieve a bookshelf that my Grandfather made, and hitting the mall to do a little shopping with the gift cards we got.  We’re both looking forward to getting home, simply to see the dog.  We head back to the sunny south on Tuesday.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.
