Knocked

In the past two days I have slept over 30 hours.

I woke up last Saturday feeling simply dreadful.  This continued and got worse, until I woke up on Wednesday and knew I just couldn’t go to work.  I had a temperature, was completely exhausted, and felt just plain terrible.  I called in at work, which I absolutely hate doing, and crawled back into bed.  I remained there, asleep, until about one o’clock in the afternoon.  I woke up and shuffled out to the couch, where I slept off and on until dinner time.  I ate a little, watched a little TV, and then went back to bed for the night.

When I first woke up this morning I thought I’d be alright to go in.  But then I walked the dog and by the time I got back I was dizzy, lightheaded, and it felt like I was burning up.  Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am never hot.  This was sweating, uncomfortable hot.  My temperature was back up when I checked it.  I turned off the heat, called in to work, and went back to bed.  Until 11:30.  I got up and came to the couch.  I spent most of the day here.

At about 3:30 I took a shower and decided I would try to finish up some scrapbooking.  I got about 10 minutes in to that task, and started to sweat, shake, and feel lightheaded again.  So I came back to the couch and lay back down.

I’ll be in bed at 8.  I’m officially out of sick days now, which I hate.  I have been so conscious of using those sparingly so far this year.  I can’t go into deficit with that, because I will get docked pay.  I absolutely cannot afford that.

I’m not sure what I caught.  I don’t think it’s the flu, because I don’t ache or anything like that.  Today my upper respiratory symptoms are very mild.  I just keep getting the sweats and I’m really tired.

*shrug*

Back to work tomorrow.  Then 12 days until Christmas vacation.  Counting down.
