Hope is the thing with feathers…

Last Few Weeks

It’s been a busy few weeks.  We’re winding down at work to a much needed two week long break.  The last few days have been filled with holiday baking, which I’ve done almost every year.  I give baked goods to coworkers.  In some ways it’s a lot of fun.  In other ways it’s a lot of tedium.  I still have peppermint bark, oreo truffles, and banging bars to make tonight.  Then I’ll have to roll and dip cake balls.  After that it’s just a matter of packaging it all.  I’ve also been asked by my friend to make her a basket of goodies to take with her to a holiday party, so I’ll be making those over the weekend.

I joined an on-line dating site… kind of on a dare.  So far it’s been interesting.  It’s shocking what some men say to someone that they literally just introduced themselves to.  I guess the relative anonymity is kind of like liquid courage.  In the long run it makes it incredibly easy to weed people out.  I’m not sure anything will come of it, but it’s worth a try.  I’m ready to find a good, honest, down to earth guy that wants a good girl to be with.  We’ll see if that happens.  With my track record, I’m a little gun shy.  All I can do is put myself out there and see what happens I suppose.

I head up to the snowy north on the 21st.  I’m excited to see my family, and also excited to see the new house.  It’s our first Christmas since the fire, and it will be bittersweet I think.  I am so thankful that everyone is OK, alive and here to celebrate.  But I also know how difficult it will be being in a new house.  It will be such a change.

The photography business is going incredibly well.  I was hired to shoot engagement and wedding photos.  I’ve also picked up two winter show series for two different farms.  I have one on Sunday that is a mini prix… a show entirely dedicated to jumping!  I can’t wait to shoot that!  I’ve done several more portrait sessions that I am incredibly proud of, and I have a couple people interested in setting up sittings.  On top of that, I decided to sell photo books to the barrel racers this year and have sold several!  I’m interested to see my year-end earnings total.

no snow as yet. i know jazzy would appreciate it. she doesn’t like the back yard being dirt and not the wonderful grass we had before the fire. but that will come too. it will just take time. can’t wait until you are home
