Oh Happy Day

I was at Target with Bethany last night, shopping for a friend’s baby shower.  We stopped by the electronics department because Bethany needed a new digital camera.  While I was waiting for her, I was looking at the SLR supplies.  I noticed that there was a zoom lens that I’ve been wanting and it was on sale.  And by “sale” I mean that it was discounted an incredible amount.

So I called my parents to see if anyone had gotten it for me for Christmas, since they know what everyone got me.  Nobody had.  So I bought it!

It is absolutely amazing, and I can’t wait to start taking photos with it.  I went out today and got a new bag for my camera.  It’s a little backpack that has room for the camera with the zoom lens attached to it.  Then there are other spaces for my other lenses.  There are spaces in the bag for filters and other accessories.  I really love it.

I’m incredibly excited, even more now, for our trip to Mississippi.  I will be able to take so many amazing photographs.

Technical Goddess

Oh. My. God.

So…  ever since I moved my site over to this new and beautiful creation by Jake, I have been upset by only one thing: no ability for people to comment on my creative writing directly on the site.  It has been a constant source of disdain, and I have searched non-stop for a solution.

Today I found it.  I googled it on a whim, and one of the message boards at the Wordpress site had the directions.  So I thought, “That seems simple enough.” I did what they said, adding just a little more code to my template, and *poof*.  There is now the ability for anyone to post a comment directly to any piece of my writing on this site.  All of my poetry.  All of my stories.  The comments work exactly like the comments here on the blog main page.

I turned off the ability to comment on the about me and pony inventory page.  I also turned it off on the main pages for the stories and poetry.  But if you click on any individual story or poem link, you can comment on them.  The comments are at the bottom of a page.

So anyone who has been chomping at the bit to say something about any of my work, feel free.  I solved the problem!!!  I can’t begin to tell you how accomplished I feel.  Jake tried everything he could think of… but I fixed it!!

Holiday Goings On

The last week and a half has been professionally crappy.  I’m having a small conflict with a coworker that is making me feel badly.  I don’t want to discuss it much here, but if you’d like more details feel free to email and ask me.  It’s something that I feel better about if I talk about it, but I know that it’s not appropriate to blog about it in detail.  I’m sure the situation will improve, so that’s a consolation.

I have so much to do over the next few days.  I’m going to Plymouth on Friday to visit the P-Town homies.  It’s the last weekend before Christmas that I will have free to visit them, and I wanted to be sure to get down there with gifts and hugs.  I miss that group so very much, and I couldn’t imagine not seeing them before the holiday.

Another reason to be excited about my trip to Plymouth is that I’m going to stop by my previous school to visit some of my former coworkers and friends.  I’m very excited to see Jay, Sandy, and Gail.  I’m hoping I’ll catch up with the Dean of Students as well as Robyn, one of the EC teachers that was so helpful to me.  It’ll be a good day.

On Saturday or Sunday when I get back up here, Jake and I are going to do all of our Christmas shopping.  We’ll be doing a lot of gift cards this year, simply because I’ll be shipping most things up north.  I’ll also be baking some sweet treats for several people.  That will remain a secret though.

I’ve been getting terrible headaches and nech aches recently.  It started out happening maybe once or twice a week.  Now it’s every day.  I should go to the chiropractor, but I honestly don’t want to chance anohter huge medial bill on top of what I already have.

How Do You Like the Vue

We went to Saturn today.  Looked at the ‘08 models… which I didn’t really like the shape of.  They ran the numbers, and there was no way I could take the payments they gave me.  So we went out and looked at some ‘07 and I saw one I liked.  We ran the payments again, and they were right in a good range.  So we signed the paperwork at about noon and drove it home at around 1pm.  It has a sun roof!
I haven’t officially named it yet, but the choices so far are:

-Dr. Kenneth Noisewater (Jake’s Favorite)
-Baxer
-Tom O’leary

If you don’t get those references, that’s ok.  :)   We understand them and that’s all that matters.

So here’s the new Vue:

I am very happy with this purchase.

Goals Met

For those of you interested:

Not only did I get my 50,000 words done before the end of November.  Today I finished the whole thing.  I’ve posted the whole thing Happy Accidents in the NaNo section of the website.

I also finished something else… last year’s NaNo!!  They are both in the NaNo section.

My next goal for this week?  Get a new car :)
